I’ve recently pointed out to separate acquaintances, one who had a big puddle of coolant under his car, and another who was missing a lug nut. Both shrugged it off. I guess I probably do almost as bad with the house, but... I was left scratching my head.

I followed a kid a few hundred feet off a main road to his house because he was running on a flat rear tire with 3 passengers in the back. His response to “You have a flat” was “I know”. I hope he has SUPERB insurance.

Just brilliant. The one with the coolant leak will probably learn their lesson soon enough. I dunno about the lug nut one, though. I’d prefer not be driving anywhere nearby if/when something does happen.

I’ve seen an alarming number of cars missing lug nuts recently. Once you start looking for it you see it everywhere, same with bald tires.

My sc400 had a missing lug for the 2 years I had it. Probably some years before I had it and after too. Stripped thread, just made sure the other 4 were tight!

Sounds about right. There was a kid who lived in the same apartment building as me years ago, he was missing 1 out of 5 of the lug nuts on his 3000 GT the entire time I lived there.
